The Amateur Kickboxing
Association of England ( A.K.A. ) in association with
Dave Eckersley and Leigh Kickboxing Studio
would like to invite Instructors to enter athletes into our
IKF Amateur Kickboxing Championships ( O.S.R. format ).
Saturday 30th October 2010, Lowton Civic Hall,
Leigh, Lancashire, WA3 2AH

Entries details and
entry fee payments must be submitted to A.K.A. England before
Friday 22nd October 2010,
( which is eight days prior ), at the latest.
These must be pre-paid in advance, and by cheque only ( made payable
to A.K.A. Kickboxing ).
Late entries after this date will not be accepted.
If you are posting a cheque, please ensure that it arrives before
Thursday 21st October 2010
as the A.K.A. office does not receive any mail at the weekends.
Please enter your
athletes early to avoid disappointment, this competition will have a
maximum of
20 contests on the day ( just '40' matched entries ).
There will be 'Novice'
and 'Senior' I.K.F. Amateur Kickboxing Bouts. ( ‘O.S.R.’
format ).
O.S.R.
is the abbreviation for Open Scoring Rules,
which means that the scoring is open for
everyone to view during the contests to ensure fairness to all competitors.
Open scoring is used for all Olympic sports, including Boxing and Taekwondo.
On A.K.A. Kickboxing events, this is done
using score machines mounted next to the area of play ( boxing ring
) during bouts. The format is similar to Olympic
Style Rules
as seen in Olympic Amateur Boxing.

All the striking techniques and methods are allowed as is used in the
professional Kickboxing system commonly known as
'Oriental Style Rules' ( O.S.R. ) or '
K-1 Rules' or 'Japanese Rules',
which allows Kicks, Punches
and Knees and restricted
clinch-hold defence, (allowing only a single holding-knee-kick
when clinching).
This combined rules set makes for very fast and exciting contests, yet
under proven safety conditions for the participating athletes.
All bouts will be I.K.F. Amateur Rules
under O.S.R. scoring criteria. (athletes
wearing protective equipment and open-scoring being used by the judges),
and contested under the 'Oriental ' Style Kickboxing method.

' Novice Level ' Kickboxing bouts :
These are suitable for 'Inter-club' level
students looking to compete with actual win/lose
decisions. These contests only allow Controlled-Contact to the
head ( No heavy-strikes).
' Senior Level ' Senior bouts :
These are suitable for students that wish to compete full-contact (
no restrictions to contact level ), yet
under the proven safety regulations of O.S.R. rules.
All Competitors will receive an official I.K.F. Trophy.
A.K.A. Championships Levels are
British ( Red coloured coded Belt )
Commonwealth ( Black colour coded Belt )
European ( Blue Colour Coded Belt )
World ( White Colour Coded Belt )
International or Traveling Athletes:

If you are attending
from outside the U.K., please bring a national flag, and also a CD of
your national anthem for the opening ceremonies.
The
event is held over one day. and will being held on
Saturday 30th October 2010
at:
Lowton
Civic Hall, Leigh, Lancashire WA3 2AH
ENGLAND.
Entry fee per athlete for this event is £25.00.
Note : There is a £ 5.00 discount for those
that have A.K.A. licences
Each competitor may sell tickets and collect £ 5.00 per ticket
commision.
(Sell just 5 tickets = £ 25.00 in commision which can be used
to pay the entry fee).
Each competitor will receive a complimentary fully edited DVD of their
bout and the main Championship bouts at the discretion of the host school
that is promoting.
Each British athlete
will get a National ranking.
Weight check and
medical = 12.00 pm.
Novice bouts scheduled to start = 2.00 pm.
Senior Bouts scheduled to start = 7.00 pm.
Note : International & Championship bouts are Senior contests (
7.00pm onwards ).
Spectator tickets
are primarily for those wishing to watch the Senior bouts ( 7.00pm -
10.00pm ). However spectators with these tickets are welcome to attend
the Novice contests that start at 2.00pm and will be allowed entry after
1.30pm.
