A Brief Rundown on the O.S.R. ( Open-Scoring-Rules ) Format:
Although today there are many variants world-wide of Amateur Kickboxing, This system is one of the most likely to be accepted for Olympic recognition of Amateur Kickboxing, as it already meets the criteria that was required for

Olympic Amateur Boxing
:
Open Scoring on Electronic score Machines,
Headguards,
Larger - more padded gloves,
4 round contests,
T.K.O. by outclass, ( Should a player be losing by 20 points a contest is stopped by T.K.O. which saves an athlete from being K.O.'d )

and Olympic Taekwondo
Additional Protective Equipment -,
Bodyshields,
Forearm Guards,
Shinpads.
Scores Clearly weighted, so Kicks score more points than Punches
.

Sanctioned world-wide through the I.K.F. ( International Kickboxing Federation ), this system, is officially known as O.S.R. format ( Open Scoring Rules format ), although it is most commonly known as Olympic Style Rules by the general public and within the sport due to its similarity to Olympic Boxing.

Similar in style to Olympic Amateur Boxing – you will see the Scores registered by the Players during the contest. The combat format is similar to Japanese K-1 style kickboxing, allowing strikes with Kicks, and Punches, yet wearing Amateur safety equipment. Also similar is that holding-Knee-Kicks are allowed, and clinch holding is restricted. In the event of a Draw, an extra round is contested, again following the K-1 system. Select and read "O.S.R. Kickboxing Rules" on the left side menu for further info.

Brief Rundown before viewing the videos

Kicks = 2 Points
Knees = 2 Points
Punches = 1 Point
Limited Clinch-Holding allowed
Draw Result = another round is contested
T.K.O. = 20 Point Lead (Due to the Outclass Rule)

We hope that you enjoy the video clips. We have received emails from many countries world-wide, from people that have seen these matches. Please email your comments also.

Olympic Boxing Clip of Amir Khan

Just as A.B.A. Boxing is the official format for Olympic Boxing and W.T.F. Taekwondo is the official format for Olympic Taekwondo.....

... many people hope that 'O.S.R. Kickboxing' could one day be the official format
for 'Olympic Kickboxing'.

Thankyou and enjoy!
